A: Do you think prices will remain stable during the next 3 months?

B: I don’t think so because as soon as sanctions are lifted, more investments will be made.

A: So you mean it is likely that inflation rate rises again?

B: Yes, that would be possible, because of which we should analyze market prices carefully.

A: I suggest hiring a financial manager to take care of market development.

B: That might be a good idea but we should be careful with the expenses as well.

A: Over the last few months we have made some mistakes which must not be repeated.

B: I know how you feel and you have my words that no mistakes will be made.

A: We are here today to discuss launching a pilot plan in the company.

B: Sorry. I didn’t catch that. Could you be more specific?

A: Sure, the IT department is working on the website to make it possible for the customers to order online.

B: I think that’s a perfect initiative as lots of people are online these days.

A: Anyway, I am here today to tell you about the details and then I’ll move on to the second issue.

B: As I said the plan can boost sales threefold.

A: Actually, our sale decreased by 10% last month due to the dull market that is why we are developing new strategies.

A: Can you tell me about the purpose of this market research?

B: Sure. First, we intend to find out how to enter new markets overseas, also we are planning to adopt better advertising strategies.

A: Anyway, have you ever been in this country?

B: Well, I travel a lot, but this is my first time here.

A: How often do you go abroad on business?

B: I normally take business trips every other week.

A: Are you interested in any sports?

B: Actually I am keen on tennis and I suggest that we go to find a grass court if you don’t mind.

A: Well Bob, where are you with your survey?

B: We’ve already collected the much-needed data and we are analyzing them.

A: You know, we are short on time, so I would appreciate it if you could do the rest much faster.

B: Don’t worry, just leave it with me and I’ll take care of everything. I promise to meet the deadline.

A: Have you spoken to the lab manager yet?

B: Yes, I have. Actually I had a meeting with him yesterday and he has prepared the equipment.

A: How do you feel about the result?

B: Personally, I feel that we need to invest much more in R & D initiatives.

A: Sure. Please tell him to call me back as soon as possible. I think he has my number but please write it down just in case…

A: Good evening. Let me introduce myself. My name is Bob.

B: Nice to meet you and I’m Tom.

A: Nice to meet you too. Can I introduce you to my colleague?

B: Sure. That would be my pleasure.

A: This is Roberts. He works in marketing department and he is in charge of the commercials.

B: Wow. That’s great. My pleasure Roberts.

A: Ok, let’s get down to business, this pie chart shows our annual sale. The most important thing is that our sale volume usually decreases in fall.

    Subject Rogue Street concerts
    Dear Don

Please find attached the schedule for Rogue Street’s tour of the USA in the summer. The band arrives on July 3 and returns to the UK on July 31. The aim is to play all the main music festivals in the country.

We have already booked most of the concerts but we are having problems contacting some of the organizers. Why don’t we arrange a call next week to discuss this?

We also need some more help. The band are going to travel between some cities by bus. How much time do we need to travel between San Diego and Seattle? And between Atlanta and Miami?

Thanks for all your help on this project.

    With very best wishes

    Dear Sir or Madam

I would like to book three double rooms at your hotel for four nights from 4-8 January. Could you also order a taxi from the airport on 4 January? We are arriving in Saint Petersburg at 20.00 local time. I would also like to book a table for dinner in the hotel restaurant for the evening of 4 January.

I saw on your website that there are several meeting rooms at the hotel. Is there one available on 5 January? We are going to have an all-day meeting that day for twenty people.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Yours faithfully

    Subject           New assistant manager

    Hi Bertil

I’m just emailing about the new assistant manager position. There are two candidates: Dan Ellis and Anneke Meis.

The CEO thinks Anneke is the best candidate. Anneke has an MBA and she speaks Dutch, English, and French. But I don’t think we should choose her because she has no experience in the shipping industry.

Ruud thinks we should give the job to Dan. He already works for us and he is very popular. Some people say he is not experienced enough to be a manager, but I disagree. In fact, he’s very good at solving problems and working with a team. In my opinion, he is the best candidate.

     What do you think?

    Subject      Ice cream supplier

    Dear Davis

We are currently choosing a new supplier for the ice cream in our motorway restaurants: Theodore Foods or Redd Ltd. Please find attached more information on both companies.

Theodore Foods already supply ice cream to our competitors. They have a wide range of products and their delivery times are excellent.

But personally I prefer Redd Ltd. They produce high quality ice cream and their prices are similar to Theodore Foods. And the advantage of Redd is that they have a range of organic ice cream. I think that will be very popular with our customers.

Would you be happy with that decision?
    Best wishes
    Jay
